"Hey Big Head WYD?"
I'm sorry but the modern age of the internet has ruined me to the point of that's all I can think when I read this title.
In continuation from the previous episode, it's Sabrina's first day of work at Scorch Magazine. Morgan and Roxie make her a sack lunch and film it on video camera like parents on their first born's first day of school. The most important part of this scene is that Morgan is wearing red cocktails umbrellas in her hair. This is something I've never seen before and I feel enlightened now. Especially considering I work with these very umbrellas, and can easily snag one to match my outfit depending on the day... Morgan also offers some solid advice to a worried Sabrina.
"You're gonna be fine just be yourself, or someone more interesting."
"Yep, I feel confident. My hair looks good. My outfit looks good. Everything is going to be good!" Sabrina replies happily, feeling slightly better as she leaves out the door.
"Sabrina, watch your back..." Roxie yells out, noticing she has a black outline of Salem's fur on her white jacket...
We see Sabrina in the office sitting a desk being bothered by a guy name Leonard who claims to be the publisher's right hand man, yet another employee tells him to replace the toner as he walks by. So Sabrina escapes to the senior editor, Annie, because she doesn't understand what her job is and is incredibly nervous. After a bit of discussion, Sabrina gets her first assignment to interview a huge rock star named, Strum.
Meanwhile, the real plot of this episode, Morgan decides she has to discipline Salem because he stares at her constantly. He lets us know this is because he can't ask for something as risk of blowing his cover, but that must be inevitable so I wonder how long it is going to take. Morgan picks up Salem and explains her plan and how it's going to be great because he won't get his fur all over the couch anymore. He replies with the best line I've heard from this show:
"You should talk. you've got enough mustache to be an assistant coach."
Sabrina goes to meet Strum, but his ego is ridiculous. He is in a gym, but is only working out to get the pictures, and clearly thinks he is better than he is. Even though he is clearly a douche, Sabrina feels the need to portray him in a good light in the interview. But Annie tells her this may be the end of her job because her interview was sweet enough to go in her coffee. Proof of that is she used the word nice three times in one paragraph. Sabrina tries to defend herself claiming it was his rockstar status that made her do it. But in the end she has to rewrite the interview with the truth in order to keep the job she so badly wanted.
Back at home, Morgan has purchased Salem a shock collar to train him because it says it's not tested on animals.
"Nice, but I believe it's pearls that go with basic black" Salem says in detest to the basic red collar.
At first he doesn't think it will matter since Sabrina will save him, but when asked by Morgan she says that she doesn't care if they train him; so we know this is gonna be a good one. One of the best scenes being when Roxie is trying desperately to get the tv to turn on with the remote, while poor Salem is being shocked to death in the background.
Finally Sabrina gets published in Scorch magazine when she delivers the harsh truth about Strum. She even gets her own desk, but the moment that she sits down, Strum struts in and demands "I want HER fired!" Uh oh. Is Sabrina really going to lose the job she has been working so hard to get?
Annie won't fire her, but when he threatens to sue, then Annie says she will write a retraction. After debate they decide on a public apology at the concert tomorrow. Sabrina thinks she is giving up everything she believes in by apologizing on stage. But her co-worker convinces her otherwise by saying, "brutal honesty has it's place, but so does keeping a job."
"Do you know where I can buy a halter top?" Sabrina proves she is going to do it and this was truly filmed in the 90's.
Trying to get advice from her roommates, Morgan says she would give up everything including her dignity to be on stage with Strum. Sabrina responds with, "you gave all that up when you did 'Girls gone wild 8'". Are there really friends who talk to each other like this? Where are you and can I hang?
When she appears in the dressing room to get ready for the apology, Strum admits he thought of a plan. He wants to bring her out and spank her onstage with a copy of Scorch. Sabrina is horrified and casts a spell on Strum where his head grows too big to leave the room, for him to recognize his arrogance,. She asks is he's ever been humble and he says he was for two weeks until he found out someone else had that name. *Ba dum tiss* He admits that some of my success comes from those who write my songs, and his head shrinks a tiny bit. With every confession that proves he is not all he seems, his head eventually returns to normal. Strum thanks Sabrina for helping him and to forget about the apology on stage," but if you're up for a private spanking the show is over after midnight."
"Oh that's too bad. I'm already scheduled for a wedgie at 11:30"
Sabrina goes to Annie the next day, excited she got out of the apology and being sued. However, Annie is not so thrilled considering Strum spanking anyone with Strum magazine would have been great publicity. Sabrina gives her farewell speech, to which Annie responds, "Okay, see you tomorrow." Since Sabrina assumed she was fired she questions why they're going to keep her around. Aside from it being the Publisher's decision to fire her, Annie wouldn't either because she is "going to look forward, every day, to what kind of disaster you can make you yourself."
